The Cultivation Of Crayfish
One of the commodities which interest taken by many farmers today is freshwater crayfish cultivation. Many farmers who change their commodity such fish into freshwater crayfish caused by the price value is higher, although it need more attention and more difficult in cultivation. Not only this to get the prospective crayfish also difficult which it can be gotten from other region in Indonesia. But most of farmers do this because they know that lobster cultivation has good prospective.
To cultivate crayfish the first thing that has to be done by farmer is make pool that will be used to put up 8 crayfishes which consist of 5 females and 3 males. The pool size that can be used is 10 x 10 m and with dept 60 cm. Actually this size can placed more crayfish with comparison 15 males and 85 females, but the other equipment has to be added such water pump.
The harvesting can be done after 5 months the maintenance process. This maintenance can be divided 3 periods. The first period usually held for 2 months till egg-lying period arrived. In this period farmer feeds crayfish with 3gr for each crayfish per day. Then the second period is used for hatching period with same doses in feeding.
In this period farmers have to separate the children from the mother and put them into another pool, it can 1×2 meters. The harvesting time will arrive after a month with crayfish size about 1 inch.
